  • Why choose Bay Ridge Play Place?
  • Bay Ridge Play Place has been a part of the community for over 15 years. Our staff is well trained and very experienced in providing the best care for your little ones.
  • What is the admissions process?
  • We admit new children on a rolling basis. At any time during the year that we have available space we admit new children. Applications are accepted at all times, regardless of space, and you may opt to put your name on a waiting list for the next available spot.
  • How do I visit/take a tour?
  • Private tours are given year round. You may call our center at (718) 921-3959 at anytime to schedule your visit.
  • What ages of children do you accept?
  • Bay Ridge Play Place is licensed by the NYC Dept of Health for children between the ages of 2 months and 6 years.
  • What is the ratio of children to teachers?
  • Bay Ridge Play Place follows the DOH guidelines for supervision based on age. Infants are at a 3:1 ratio, young toddlers 5:1, toddlers 6:1 and pre k 10:1.
  • Are parents allowed to visit the center during the day?
  • Yes! Parents are always welcome at the center. If you wish to spend some time in your child's class please contact their teacher.
  • Do the children go outside regularly?
  • Yes! We have a giant outdoor playground and the children have scheduled times to go outside for a ½ hour every morning and afternoon (weather permitting).
  • At what point does my child need to be potty trained?
  • The staff at Bay Ridge Play Place are all prepared to help you in this big step in your child's development. We begin at 2 years old and prefer that your child is potty trained before they enter pre k (3 ½-4 years).
  • Will I be informed about my child's progress?
  • Communication is very important to us at Bay Ridge Play Place. Your child's teacher will be willing to discuss any concerns you have at any point, and will give you a brief progress report to begin their transition into a new group.
  • What is the process for emergency/weather closing?
  • At Bay Ridge Play Place we follow the decision regarding closing of public city schools. In case of emergency, parents will be individually notified by the director, owner or teachers.
  • Are your teachers CPR and first aid certified?
  • We currently have 4 teachers who are CPR and first aid certified. There is a member of staff who has undergone training on site at all times.
  • Do your teachers receive professional development?
  • Yes! All teachers and assistant teachers undergo approximately 8 hours of training per year.
  • What is the policy on sick children?
  • We ask that any child who is ill remain home for 24 hours after their last fever, after they began medication or with a doctor's note.
  • Do you have a policy regarding health and nutrition?
  • Yes! You can find a copy of this policy in our application packet.
  • Do you have an emergency plan?
  • Yes! You can request a copy of this plan from our director.
  • What are your tuition rates?
  • Our tuition rates are very competitive for the area and we offer a discount for enrolled siblings, as well as a referral discount. Please call to schedule a tour and find out more about our rates and program.
